Aragats Kazbek Elbrus tour program

Day 1

Meet at the international airport of Yerevan and transfer to Hotel (10 min Walk till downtown)

Day 2

Transfer Yerevan – Kari lake (3200 m) and excursion (Garni Temple and Geghard Monastery)(145 km/ 3.5 hours). Night in Hut 3200 (B / L / D)

Day 3

Kari lake – Summit Day – Kari lake– Walking time 7-8 hours. Drive to Yerevan. Night in Hotel in the centre of Yerevan. (B / L / D)

Day 4

Transfer: Yerevan – Tbilisi (Georgia). Meet at 8:00 am and drive to Echmiadzin cathedral church. Then we will visit Zvartnots cathedral. After we will drive to Lake Sevan direction and we will visit Sevanavank church. After Sevanavank we will have lunch in a traditional Armenian restaurant, and then we will drive to Tbilisi. Free Evening. Night in Hotel in the centre of Tbilisi. (B / L / D)

Day 5

Transfer: Tbilisi – Gudauri. Meet a 12 Am and drive to Gudauri Ski resort (2000m) 150 km. 2 hours driving. During the way, we will visit Town Mtskheta (Capital of Georgia before VI c.), Jvari Monastery; Ananuri Fortress; Before 12 Am you will have the possibility to walk in downtown and take photos. Night in Hotel in Gudauri. (B / L / D)

Day 6

Gudauri (2000m) – “ClimbingGeorgia” BC (3650 m). Start at 8 am. Jeep transfer to Sameba Church (2200m) and then walk to “ClimbingGeorgia” BC (3650m). Approximately 7.5 hours. (B / L –box / D)

Day 7

Acclimatization – walk to 4000m during which time we will practice skills necessary to climb to the Summit (rope work, ice axe arrest etc.) Approximately 1.5 hours. (B / L / D)

Day 8

Summit Day. “ClimbingGeorgia” BC (3650 m) – Summit – “ClimbingGeorgia” BC (3650 m) (10-12 hours walk approximately). Start at 2 am and walk to Plato (4500m) – 4 hours approximately. Plato to Saddle (4900m at 30 degrees). From Saddle to Summit at 40-45 degrees, use of ice axes and fixed ropes. Return to “ClimbingGeorgia” BC (3650 m). During the walk from 3900m to the Summit and back to 3900m, the group will be roped due to crevasses. Night in “ClimbingGeorgia” BC (3650 m). (B / L –box / D)

Day 9

Reserve day in case of bad weather. (B / L / D)

Day 10

Return to Sameba Church (4-5 Hours walking) and return to Guesthouse (Stephantsminda) (B / L / D)

Day 11

Drive from Stephantsminda to Terskol (Russia). 280 km Accommodation in a hotel is situated on the Cheget meadow in the village of Terskol. The rooms are comfortable and cosy, with a toilet and a shower. (B / L / D)

Day 12

After breakfast, tourists vacate their rooms. Check-out. TRF to the cable-car station Azau. We take two trams and a chairlift up to the Garabashi lift station (3750m). Check into the Barrels Refuge. (3750m). An acclimatization hike to 4100m. (where Priut 11 Refuge was situated). Overnight in the hut. *The Barrels Hut – it is situated on Elbrus slope close to the Garabashi lift station at 3750m. These are small houses shaped like barrels to stay in. There is a sleeping room with six beds and a small room with a wardrobe, and a table in every house also a canteen with kitchen in a separate hut and is no shower; the toilets are in a separate hut. Day 13

After breakfast, we’ll do a hike to 4700m to the top of the Pastukhov Rocks. From everywhere on the slopes of Elbrus, a panorama of the Central Caucasus spreads out. Overnight in the hut. (B / L / D)

Day 14

Summit attempt Elbrus. Today we will attempt to reach the main target of the trip – Summit of Mt Elbrus(5642m). We have to start very early before dawn. Using headlamps, we make our way to the Pastukhov Rocks, where we stop for a short rest and some drinks. The time limit is 12.00 at the Saddle (5300m). The more difficult parts are located higher the Saddle, altitude 5350-5600m. At the end of our way is the wide Plato where usually is very windy and finally the Summit! Descent to the Barrels Hut. Overnight in the hut. (B / L / D)

Day 15

Descend to the hotel (B / – / -)

Day 16

Reserve day in case of bad weather (B / L / D)

Day 17 

Breakfast at the Hotel and Transfer to Min Vody airport (Russia)
