Tobavarchkhili and Samegrelo Region
The Tobavarchkhili Lakes are in the southern part of the Egrisi Mountains, in mountainous Samegrelo. They are one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in Georgia. The area has rocky mountains, alpine and sub-alpine meadows, clear lakes, and many kinds of wildlife. The lakes are high in the mountains, at 2,500–2,650 meters. This makes them perfect for both experienced hikers and nature lovers.
The trekking route is about 45 kilometers long. Visitors can:
Walk through broadleaf forests with rare plants and hidden waterfalls.
Enjoy alpine and sub-alpine meadows full of wildflowers.
Meet local nomadic shepherds and learn about their daily life, houses, and traditional Megrelian food.
See the wild animals and birds that live in the area.
The best time for trekking is mid-June to mid-September. The weather is good, trails are easy to walk, and the lakes are at their most beautiful. This is the perfect season for visitors who want amazing landscapes, panoramic views, and a real mountain adventure.
